Wildcard Search Help Back
You don't need to remember the complete license-plate number to find the vehicle's listing.   There may be occasions when you see or remember only a portion of a license-plate number.  You can find the vehicle by entering any consecutive letters or numbers you happen to remember.  If the search returns more than one match, you can use the vehicle description to find the correct vehicle listing.

For example, if you see a plate that contains the numbers 242, but you can't remember the rest of the plate, you could find the vehicle by simply entering 242 in the search box. This search would match any of the following plates: 242LDT, A242YRT, or TYR242.

If you see a plate that ends in LDT, you could find the vehicle by typing LDT in the search box. This search would match any of the following plates: 332LDT, 5LDT435, 242LDT.

We also use the special wildcard character * to "fill-in" the part of the license-plate number you do not remember.  This character can take the place of zero or more letters and/or numbers.

Let's say you saw a plate that started with the number 2 and ended with the letter F. You could find this vehicle by typing 2*F which would match any of the following plates: 232GHF, 244MBF, 251GFF.

When you use wildcard searching, there is a possibility of matching more than one vehicle.  Your wildcard search will not be allowed to return more than 100 vehicles.
